Project:
Nu Explorer Series Cutter Suction Dredge
The Nu Explorer Series Cutter Suction Dredge is suitable for many dredging requirements ranging from the estuary, harbour and port to mine tailings and mineral extraction activities. This dredge is distinguished by efficient containerised mobilisation, which is particularly advantageous for hard-to-reach locations where heavy haulage equipment is unavailable.
The dredge can be transported inside standard shipping containers, significantly reducing transportation costs when sending the dredge long distances. Additionally, all containerised dredge components are within standard Australian transport dimension gauge and load weight requirements (no overweight, heavy haulage or wide loads).
Assembled on the water, allowing a smaller, more conventional size crane to be used to assemble, launch and retrieve the vessel (smaller than with standard dredge transportation), which results in lower related costs of mobilisation and assembly.
It has been designed so that its components (the hull and engine room) can be separated and used in other applications as required. For example, the engine room component of the dredge can be operated as a booster station for other dredging operations, and the hull can be used for other purposes, such as a jetty, work barge or spreader barge for spreading material underwater.
